EWP Silvercard courses are​ designed to deliver essential safety and compliance information that promotes the safe use of EWP’s and ensures compliance.

SAFETY IS EVERYONES RESPONSIBILITY

The Health & Safety at Work Act (HSWA) states that one aspect of ensuring that employees can carry out work safely is making sure that employees have adequate knowledge, experience and training.This course ensures your company is legislatively compliant, and your staff will have been made aware of the relevant Best Practices and guidelines related to EWP machinery operations.

EWP Silvercard Courses are available throughout New Zealand and offer the following courses for EWP and Working at Heights:

  • Scissor Lift – US 23960
  • Truck Mounted Boom – US 23961
  • Self Propelled Boom Lift – US23962 
  • Trailer Mounted Boom – US 23963
  • Vertical Lift – US 23964
  • Safety Harness at Heights – US 23229

Our courses are designed to deliver essential safety and compliance information. Attendees will gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in:

  • Health and Safety Legislative Requirements
  • Types of Elevated Work Platforms (EWP’s)
  • EWP Compliance Requirements
  • Hazard identification, risk assessment and controls
  • Fall arrest harness inspection, fitting and use
  • Conduct pre and post operational checks
  • Safe Operation of EWP
  • Emergency procedures, Rescue Plans
  • Theory & Practical assessments, observation and demonstration.

Upon successful completion of the course your assessor will report the achieved Unit Standards to The Skills Organisation who will register these on your NZQA Record of Achievement. You will then receive an EWP Operator ID Card as proof of training and competency. 

 A copy of your “temporary” Silver Card may be emailed by your Assessor on the day of the course, which can be used when operating machinery until you receive the official photo ID card.

23966 – Describe types of EWP, and legislative requirements for their use (Theory)
23960 – Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a scissor lift EWP (Practical)
23961 – Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a truck mounted EWP (Practical)
23962 – Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a self-propelled boom lift EWP (Practical)
23963 – Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a trailer mounted EWP (Practical)
23964 – Assess the worksite, prepare and operate a vertical lift EWP (Practical)

23229 – Using and fitting a height safety harness where a fall hazard exists at heights.

Our assessors are approved by The Skills Organisation who manage the reporting of a participants completed Unit Standards to NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Authority). Participants are also enrolled with Skills Organisation.
